Homestudy Update is In!

It may seem silly to get excited about this, but we are. We FINALLY received our homestudy update, so now we can file it and supporting documents (too numerous and boring to list here) with USCIS (US Citizenship and Immigration Services) and with the Dept. of Homeland Security. Yes, that's right, Dad, DHS. What does all this mean? Well, it means that when we file the homestudy update with the I600A, other supporting documents, and a ridiculous amount of money, we can get fingerprinted. Some unknown length of time later we get a 171H. We cannot adopt or travel to adopt without the I600A approval and the 171H. Why that is the case, heaven only knows. This is all paper work for the U.S.--approval to bring an adopted child from overseas back to U.S. soil-something to that effect. This all sounds terrible exciting, and it would be if it was the first time we have done this. But, it is not. So here we go again. But, you know we will do anything we have to do to get Gracie home. And that is all that matters.

Since one homestudy wasn't fun enough, right? Well, I'm glad it's all back OK, but sorry that you're having to repeat some of this crap!
